The Alzheimer's Association Regional Conference is a
dynamic and multi-disciplinary forum dedicated to the care of people
with dementia and their families. The conference highlights the
latest and best practices from around the country in Alzheimer's
care and research. The full-day conference held in the heart of
downtown Seattle draws nearly 800 participants and 40 sponsors and
exhibitors from our Region and nationally.
2009 Call for Presentations
We are accepting proposals in the following areas:

Activities,
recreational or “social” programming proven to be successful
-
Person-centered
approaches in care
-
Healthy aging and
Brain Health topics including fitness and/or nutrition
-
Public policy and
advocacy
-
Ethics in
Alzheimer’s
-
Programs for the
person who has Alzheimer’s or dementia
-
Technology in AD,
caregiving or aging
-
Quality care
initiatives
-
Staff building,
leadership, staff training, recruitment or retention
-
Family caregiver
concerns
-
Quality programming
that addresses the needs of underserved populations or groups
(ex. Geography specific, cultural, LGBT, ethnic,
language-specific, immigrants, Early Onset AD)
-
Research in
Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders
Submission Deadline: August 29, 2008

Submissions must be no longer than one page including a brief
description, list of objectives, list of interactive activities
planned, target audience and list of evidence-based references.
Please submit the downloadable bio-sketch form with your proposal.
Presentations should be no longer than 1.5 hours including fifteen
minutes for questions. You may submit more than one presentation
proposal.
Target Audiences: Individuals who work in the health and
long-term care systems, which include care facilities, adult family
homes, adult day care services, hospitals, primary care, home care
agencies and individual care providers, Ombudsmen, volunteer
programs, DSHS, Area Agencies on Aging and all other community based
programs that support individuals who have memory loss and their
family caregivers. We offer special workshops for family caregivers
and for individuals who have memory loss problems or Alzheimer’s
disease.
All submissions are chosen by the Alzheimer's Association Conference
Planning Council. Notifications will be sent November 15, 2008. The
Council may combine similar or complementing proposals. The Chapter
and Council encourage submissions that are based upon demonstrated
outcomes; reflect the diversity of our State, which includes care
workers, individuals who have Alzheimer’s and their families; or
bring fresh ideas that are effective and replicable.
