Memory Loss Walking and Hiking Opportunities
Offering individuals experiencing memory loss
opportunities for regular exercise, to enjoy the great outdoors and
a space to build relationships with others on a similar journey.

Early
Stage Memory Loss Hikes
Co-sponsored by Seattle Parks and Recreation,
along with the Alzheimer’s Association, two hikes are scheduled for
this summer.
The first hike took place on August 1 were the
group ventured to the Lowell Riverfront Trial in Everett.
Participants enjoyed physical activity, a wonderful opportunity
outdoors, and social time over lunch.
On Tuesday, September 11, we’ll enjoy a
paved, flat trail around Waughop Lake at Fort Steilacoom in
Lakewood.
Participants should plan to bring water and a
lunch. Those without a care partner to hike with them will be
matched with a volunteer hiking partner. Cost is $9.00 per
person to offset the cost of transportation. There’s no cost if you
meet us at the site.

Early
Stage Memory Loss Walking Program
Co-sponsored
by Seattle Parks and Recreation, Greenwood Senior Center and the
Woodland Park Zoo, along with the Alzheimer’s Association, we will
offer a 7-week walking program on Mondays, starting August 6 and
ending September 17th, 2012.
The walking portion of the program will begin
in the morning and conclude with social time at the Rain City Café
at the Zoo. Those without a care partner to walk with them will
be matched with a volunteer hiking partner.
Cost is $5.25 for parking at the Zoo.
Parking is free if you have a Handicap parking permit or are able to
find street parking. Free Zoo passes are available for all
participants, care partners and volunteers for the 7 weeks of the
walking program.
